Mapping Somalia’s humanitarian and resilience partners
A World Bank-supported mapping exercise examined the coverage, capabilities and institutional roles of humanitarian and resilience organisations in Somalia. A structured survey connected partner-level evidence with gaps and overlaps across federal member states, supporting coordination, procurement and programme-planning decisions.
Context and purpose
Somalia’s government and partners needed a clearer picture of organisations working in humanitarian response and resilience. The World Bank-supported exercise examined geographic coverage, capabilities and institutional roles to inform coordination and partner engagement.
The work
A structured survey used more than forty indicators in a campaign reaching over three hundred organisations. Analysis mapped gaps and overlaps across federal member states. Work with the Federal Government also addressed procurement guidance and arrangements for rapid NGO engagement.
Outputs and use
Partner-mapping analysis and procurement and engagement guidance supported selection, coordination and resource-allocation discussions. The outputs offered a structured basis for matching organisational capabilities and coverage to programme needs.
